Fiat, Sergio Marchionne, CEO has big plans for the luxury car manufacturer's sports car unit - Maserati: to increase the annual turnover of nearly ten times to 50,000 units last 5675 years.
To this end, three new models are presented: the brand will introduce two new sedans to replace the flagship of Maserati Quattroporte and the new company will be the first SUV third. These three models share parts with Chrysler and Jeep Grand Cherokee. Still, it will be renamed as Lancia, each model has a different body, interior, engine and suspension setup dedicated.
It seems that the new SUV is built Jeep Grand Cherokee platform, but behind the power is still a mystery. Fiat CEO Sergio Marchionne has revealed little, saying that the engine of the SUV is a "vehicle of rock and roll", perhaps in both V8 and V12 versions.
Rumors say it will be loaded with a Chrysler Hemi V8 with 465 horsepower, but no confirmations have been made. For Europe, there is even a diesel engine, most likely a bi-turbo 3.0 Fiat.
What becomes SUV Maserati engine should be ready to compete with models like the Porsche Cayenne.
Finally, in September the brand will be the first step and present a prototype of its new SUV in the next Frankfurt Motor Show. Sales are expected to begin in late 2013.
